As many of you know my love for the mandolin. I'm proud to say that Master Luthier and owner Yochi Ueda of Wade Instruments and I are very excited to partner up. Yochi and I have agreed for him to make a replica of Bill Monroe's F-5 Gibson 1923 Lloyd Loar. In 1963 Monroe gouged the pearl inlay on the headstock plate from his beloved F-5 Lloyd Loar which is synonymous and part of bluegrass history. I grew up listening to that mandolin and as time went by I met Bill and had the good fortune to play that mandolin. Bill Monroe is a huge influence of mine growing up on the music. My mandolin style is all about Bill's approach and technique and tone. In fact, in my office I have a close up picture of Monroe's mandolin head stock that was given to me by my dear friend Tom T. Hall. On Wed., December 2, 09 I met with Yochi at my performance in in Osaka, Japan and I was able to see first hand the first and only copy of the F-5 Monroe mandolin and was totally blown away. The craftsmanship of the instrument and the tone was exactly what I was looking for. Can't wait to receive it so I can get out there on the festival and concert circuit to carry on the tradition of Bill Monroe as well as my own music. There's know question that this is the right mandolin for me. I'm proud to be a part of the Wade instrument family.
